step 1: combine 25 grams charcoal with 78 grams chlorate and 2 grams dextrin, then sieve together to remove clumps
Step 2: take 30 grams of this mixture and put into your mixing container
now you will need another tool...your hand!
Step 3 : make the composition into a slurry the consistency of whipped yogurt with the 75:25: solution, soak a length of string in this mixture for 5 minutes and remove using your fingers to wipe the excess off...DO NOT SQUEEZE the string you will ruin the fuse!
Water Proofing
Step 4 take your dry black match and paint a thin layer of Shellac on it. the layer must cover the whole string with no gaps in coverage, do not use too much or the shellac will permeate the string and ruin both the burn rate and burn temperature.
allow this to dry for 12 hours NO EXCEPTIONS!
when fully dry you must repeat the process three times.
Aug 01, 2008 12:00 pm - This is one of the few of the good eggs out there. Ill 5 it because its very detailed and has pictures. I have no idea why the rating is only a 2. I hope my vote brings it up some.
Oh btw.
"allow this to dry for 12 hours NO EXCEPTIONS!"
So if I let it dry for 13 hours, then Ill ruin it?
Aug 01, 2008 2:08 pm - nice job 5* but how much did this cost to make 10$ for that price just goto cannon fuse and buy 50ft of visco fuse its 6 dollars waterproof, and more reliable. plus you get 50 ft
Aug 01, 2008 3:45 pm - I used to coat black match in a solution of pingpong balls, dissolved in acetone. It IS flammable, and is water proof. Try it!
Seriously, it doesn’t really soak into the string at all, either, and it will burn even if you burn it separate to a fuse. Even a huge chunk will burn.
Did I mention it was water proof?
Except it dries incredibly stiff. Fuse = unable to bend.
Aug 01, 2008 5:38 pm - A fun thing to do is make the fuse about 3-4 feet long and light it and either swing it around or ti it to your shoe and run screaming "OMFG IMZ A BOMB"
5**** and Favs bro
