Okay, DaDevil here with a much long awaited egg! Yes, I know, it’s been a while, but good quality things do take longer than the noobs here that post shitty eggs I suppose.
Now, I’ve figured out an awesome way of converting AVI movie files, to working VOB files to burn to DVD.
Now here’s the kicker, they don’t just convert the file to a single, (and usually unusable) VOB file; they also include all the other files that are needed to made a working DVD, ie: ".BUP" files and so on; and even make special "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS" folders for them.
How is this helpful?, some of you ask? Well, most of us know, that when we download movies from torrents, etc, they’re usually always in "AVI" video format, and that can be a bitch when trying to make a proper DVD out of it.
But here’s the solution! Not only is it effective, it’s also very easy!
Now, a quick disclaimer before I continue. The program used for this is "WinAVI 9.0", but it is a program that you must acquire the Key/Crack, etc, to use it; and since Warez links are not allowed on this site, I will leave it up to you to find a working copy that includes a key. Most of you will know of "Katz" though. That is all I’m saying.
Anyway, on with the egg!
You will need:
• WinAVI Video Converter 9.0 (Needs a key, up to you were you find the full program).
• A burning program such as Nero – I use Nero 6.
• A blank DVD-R.
• A DVD Burner.
• Enough space on your hard drive to save the converted VOB files (can go over a couple of Gb).
• Your AVI movie file, ready to be converted.
Okay.
You’ve got your copy of "WinAVI Video Converter 9.0". Install it, and register it, all that, etc.
Now open it, you should get the program screen, a lot like this:
Click the “DVD” button, and it will prompt you further to convert to VOB, etc.
It will take you to an “Open file” screen. Locate the AVI file that you want to convert, and click “open”. In this egg, I will be converting "Forrest Gump", which to me is an awesome classic.
You should see a window with functions to convert your file, ie: output file type and output directory. Change your directory of where you want the completed VOB files to go, then click OK.
The “Converting” window will popup, and depending on the size of the AVI file, is how long you will wait till the converting process is completed. As you can see there’s a frame-rate, and a rough amount of time to go.
Wait the amount of time, in this case it will be about an hour or so…
………Waiting………
Right, after its converted, it will pop up with a little slider bar, saying “rebuilding VOB file”, etc.
This will take about a minute or so, and when that’s done, it should say completed!!
Now, you have your AVI movie in DVD VOB format! Lets check it out!
Now, I don’t have any spare DVD-R’s with me at the current time, so I will only go through the steps of burning.
Now, to the burning stage.
Open “Nero Burning ROM”. On the “DVD” Selection, select “DVD-Video”, then click “NEW”.
Locate the DVD VOB files, and drag the “VIDEO_TS” folder to the blank compilation. It should fill the blue slider bar of how much Gb has been used up, etc. It should be under the 4.7gb limit.
Nothing left to do now, but BURN!
Put the DVD in, and not only is your AVI movie in DVD format now, the WinAVI program has also created a menu AND chapters for it, which is pretty handy!
