Stepmania is just like Dance Dance Revolution for your computer. The difference is that you are using your hands to play instead of your feet.

You can buy DDR pads/mats for your computer for less than $30 US. Then you can play DDR any time you want. Anyway this is basically a link egg, but there are alot of sites where you can get some songs, but am going to show you how to create your own.
Once you download stepmania go to stepmania tools and package exporter.
Yours wont look exactly the same, it might not have green arrows, have a score yet, or a grade. It will look similar to it though.
Then after you do that go to Create song at the very bottom.
You might need FrostWire or LimeWire for the next part. You need a song that you want to create steps too. I chose Rammstien - Du hast because i like the sound of it.
Alright after you do that open Stepmania. Go to edit/sync songs.
Find your song, which should be in my creations folder.
Choose your difficulty. I chose hard. Then go to edit existing.
Put your notes down ( 1 is for left, 2 is for up, 3 is for down, and 4 is for right. ) After you got your notes put down, press Escape. ( Esc ) Then go down to save, and your done. ( Note, there is alot of stuff on this menu that you can mess with so have fun with that. )
Alright, then go to Exit ( discard Changes since last save ) after you saved it. Press Escape, then go to game start. Press enter until you see this screen:
Choose a difficulty, then press enter.
Find My creations right here:
You should just have My creations there, unlike me. Then press enter. You will see your song, like i do here:

Press enter and use the arrow keys to play.
To add backgrounds, find your stepmania folder, go to Open stepmania program folder, go to songs -> My Creations, and then click on your song folder. Find a picture no bigger than 640 x 480 and put it in there.
Go back to stepmania, edit/sync songs, then find your song again. Go to it, press Escape, then find this.
Press enter, and find this:
Press enter, and next time you play it you will see your background.
This egg was made so you know how to make your own song, there are sites like flashflashrevolution.com that you can download other peoples songs, or sites where you can download DDR song packs. I hope you have fun playing stepmania.
