Hey everybody. Originally I wasn’t going to ever post an egg, but then I decided "Eh what the hell".

Anyway, a little introduction of me before I start this egg.

I’ve been on this site before, under the name Banned. I used to come here a lot but shit got pretty hectic around my neck of the woods, had to take a break, never really got back on. But now I’m back; and done being a douche bag.

On with the egg.

I’ll teach you how to fix:

1. R.R.O.D. (Red Ring Of Death)
2. Power Brick failure (Red L.E.D. is on)

I’ll teach you how to prevent:

1. Terrible scratching of discs.
2. R.R.O.D.
3. Power Brick Failure
_____________

Number One: Fixing the R.R.O.D. -

Okay, red ring of death is when the circular L.E.D.S. around the power button, three of them are red and blinking. To get rid of this:

Step 1: Remove game if one is in the drive.

Step 2: Unplug your system of all wires. This includes power cord and A/V cables.

Step 3: Turn on your air conditioning to as low as possible.

Step 4: Lay XBOX 360 system on floor over an air vent, cover with towel, let sit for 30 minutes to an hour.

It only took about 30 minutes to fix mine. This will work if your system is over heated.
________

Number 2: Fixing a Power Brick Failure -

If you XBOX 360 Power Brick’s L.E.D. is red, that means it is over heated or a fuse is loose.

Technically, though it is time consuming and very easy to break your power brick permanently, you can take the stoppers (rubber circles) off of the bottom, revealing screws, unscrew them, crack open the brick, and solder the fuse in place. I do not recommend this.

I do recommend trying one or all of the following -

(Unplug brick before doing any of these things)

Option 1: Try shaking it. Yes this actually worked for me. If it’s a loose fuse, shaking it can shift it back into place. This is what fixed mine.

Option 2: Slap the brick. This too can shift the fuse back into place.

Option 3 (if the brick is warm): Lay on an air register vent, with the air condition on, lay towel over brick. Leave it sit for twenty minutes.

If these options do not work, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and ask them how to send in your brick in exchange for a new one.
__________

How to Prevent terrible scratching of discs -

Don’t lay your XBOX 360 down horizontally. Stand it upright, this will minimize how often your disc touches the tray at which it sits. Thus preventing any severe scratching.

***If Your disc does get scratched, or already is, take it to your local video store and they will clean it for a small price.***
__________

How to Prevent R.R.O.D. -

Option 1: Purchase an XBOX 360 intercooler. It plugs right onto the back of your system, works like a charm.

Option 2: If Intercooler is not an option for you, be it price or just not wanting one, do not keep your XBOX 360 inside of anything like an Entertainment System, a Cabinet, under anything, leave it out in the open. This will prevent over heating.
_________

How to Prevent Power Brick Failure -

Unplug your power brick after every use. It can be frustrating, but it will save you the stress of trying to fix it or having to purchase a new one.
_________

Thanks for reading. I hope this helps.

1. This is only at best a temporary fix for RROD, get a friend who is an electrician or know about electrics to take a look at it and thats only if youve gone over the warranty.

2. thats not really preventing RROD just common sense.

2*

Meh,You forgot to say that keeping your Xbox on the side also prevents RROD because all the vents are clear.

Have 3* for your info.

0*, because all of this info should be obvious.

And don’t listen to this guy, NEVER open up your 360 or accessories unless you know exactly what you’re doing.

Also, if you truly want to prevent a red ring, just shell out the extra cash and buy an Xbox 360 ELITE, they don’t red ring.

The first that you mentioned for fixing RROD diddnt work for me. Ever..
Never had a power brick fail, so cant say there.
My 3shitty lays horizontal and none of my games get scratched at all..
Getting an intercooler increases chances of getting RROD, seeing as they overheat easily too, which blows hot air into the console.
I have never unplugged my brick..ever..and never once has it overheated or failed on me..

Release console FTW..Never had any problems with mah three-shitty.
2* for effort.

They do red ring, but only under extreme circumstances. They have a more powerful blower in them.

I quite realize, but saying "they don’t" sounds much better than "they’re much less likely".

Much like "He’s in a better place now", as opposed to "I just skinned your dog alive and ate him".
Right?

Well, as much as I’m suprised nobody added this comment...I wouldn’t recommend shaking it, slapping it, or anything like that. That actually over time will help it develop MORE loose fuses and wires, and you’ll have to buy another one quicker. If you set it up, and it works, don’t touch the damn thing, and it should be good. Not gonna down your egg though...that’s just some friendly advice.

ok if your warranty is over open the 360 up and put a 120mm fan inside of it if your warranty isn’t over just get 1 or 2 120mm fans and put them by the vents. 120mm fans are quiet and push alot of air 55cfm

Maybe if you would find a chick who would "slap your brick" for you, you wouldn’t be such an arrogant dick?
