Wouldn’t you rather have a shitty-plastic-butane-piece-of-shit GUN lighter?
Well you sure are lucky.
Cos in this Egg, I’m gonna show you how to make one of these bad boys
All you need is
-One toy revolver cap gun
-A long nozzled barbeque lighter
-tape (DUCT TAPE PREFERABLY, i didn’t have any, but black duct tape is the ideal choice)
-A multi-tool with some sort of ;saw, file, knife, screwdriver and pliers
(just getting those individual tools would be just as good)
Just in case you are an REtard and dont know what these confusing objects are
here is a picture of them all neatly lain out on my bed

Any-fuckin-way
Step 1.)
Disassemble all your shit,
If there are screws, unscrew them
etc
Especially with the toy gun, it is most likely you will have to pry apart alot of plastic.
Refrain from fucking it up, plz
With the barbeque lighter, they are normally slightly easier to take apart
With the gun you should be left with this shit
Careful, these components make sprrrring out and hit you in your eyeball. We wont need them for later on, (except the trigger of course) but I always keep shit like this. It’s useful
And with the butane lighter you should be left with this
This is a good time to check the barrel of the gun is clear. It doesnt need to be smooth or anything, just you should be able to see a decent amount of daylight down it. Alot of toy guns wont be smooth on the inside.

Step 2.)
Analyse and understand what your shit is
There are rarely large name brands for barbeque lighters or toy cap guns, therefore it is inevitable your products will have slightly different designs to mine.
Some people may be able to follow the instructions directly.
Some may have to improvise a great deal
Here are some shots of all my components and shit aquired from the two products
Butane Tank and Tubing. MAKE SURE YOUR TUBING IS LONG ENOUGH! Later on is a bad time to find out your piping is too short (inb4smallwilly) Take a close look at the device which releases the gas. The majority of lighters will have a method in which as the piping is pulled up, gas is released.
Piezo-electric clicker. This is a nifty component which i cant be fucked to understand. Bottom line is it clicks and crystals create a spark. This is your ignition source. Make sure it has 2 wires. If it doesn’t, dont cry, just solder some on. If i were you though i’d cry and give up.
Trigger housing and body of gun. This is where the magic happens. Your mission, should you choose to accept it is to find some way of rigging that piezo to the trigger. It may just be too much of a mission to include the gas release with the spark. If you can do it, you are a greater man than I. I simply added an extra button where the hammer was to manually release gas with my thumb. It’s like 5x easier to make and looks fine.
Step 3.)
Start assembling your shit
My first major hurdle was the fact that the fucking butane tank is too fucking big for the fucking handle.
So obviously start tearing shit out to make way
It will stick out the bottom, but I’m not so bothered and it makes it easier to refill.
Here you can get a good look at how my trigger activates the piezo clicker. As the trigger is pulled the internal part moves up and clicks it. If possible, copy me. If not, get thinking. There will always be some method of getting it done.
Start running your wires/piping towards where the flame with be coming out. Remember thats tubing, so if it gets squashed, it could impede gas flow. It wasn’t an issue for me but i took it into account.
Step 4.)
Start reassembling the gun around all your shit while adding more bits of shit here and there
Run the wires/tube through the chambers, it’s just easier
once they make it out the other side you need to attach one wire to the metal head of the nozzle. This will mean as the piezo clicks, the spark from the other wire will jump towards the head of the nozzle, which will, hopefully, be producing flammable butane gas.
Now time to devise your gas release method.
My lighter worked with a sort of lever/rocker in which as it was pushed down it lifted the metal pipe up releasing gas. I just strapped a bent up paperclib to a normaly lolly stick (:D) and the other end to the rocker. This meant, seeing as the stick protruded from where the hammer used to be, I could push down on the stick, which pulled down the lever, releasing gas. Got that?
As i’m holding that button down, pull the trigger, spark ignites the gas. Hey presto
It sounds complicated, but this is what happens every time you use a clicky lighter.
Run the tubing and wires down the barrel of the gun, and make sure the free wire is slightly ahead of the nozzle of the tube. This is so the spark comes back towards the gas, and is igniting in the path of the flowing gas.
I had a wire which was too long so i took it out the barrel, round the other side, and poking back into the barrel. I dunno why i went through so much effort when i could have just cut it o_O
Step 5.)
CONGRATULATIONS, your lighter gun is almost complete.
Time to clip it all together, do up the screws and time to tape that fucker up. It is inevitable the thing may be a little fragile at the seams, with all the shit and whatnot inside it. So some balck duct tape will do fine.
I however only had brown parcel tape. So i ended up with this abomination.
I used a permenant marker
And coloured that fucker in

I think it’d be easier to do this with a non-revolver style gun. A standard-looking handgun (with a magazine) would fit the butane container better.

And no, I just made the gun, took photos along the way on the precaution that if it worked I could make an egg out of it.
I do that with half the shit I do, but it either doesnt work, or i really cand be fuckered to make the egg and doo all the tags etc. |
