Introduction So let me give you some background information on these caves and mines. According to the Montana City Website it states some of these caves and abandoned mine shafts have been here since 1866, these mines were part of the huge gold rush that had hit Montana. Anyways enough of that Jazz, if you would like to read more on the mines we went to, then here http://www.deq.state.mt.us/abandonedmines/linkdocs/techdocs/98tech.asp
These caves are located 4 miles South of Helena, Montana.
Cave one Four of my friends and myself decided to explore when we came across what looked liked a mine shaft from the distance. so we parked the car and got out and proceeded to walk up the mountain. About half way up we started coming across shit such as this storage shed.
Of course were curious so we opened it to reveal nothing but pointless shit. I was hoping possibly dynamite or lights.
So proceeding up the hill to the mine.
So after walking for about five minutes we finally got to the cave, but realized it was also a camp site for possibly a bum or someone else.
So after checking the place out we decided to break off the door to the cave or at least move it enough to get in, which we succeeded to do.
Now proceeding our way in.
The rocks in the caves were rather weak and brittle as you can see.
The weirdest thing was as soon as we got about 400 feet in we had found another weird object. In fact its a wiseman.
So we walk some more and basically it all looks the same, i had gotten bored of taking pictures on our way in and rather explore, so I took some more on the way back out.
End of Cave One
Start Mine One So now we explore the area for awhile more to come across yet another. We soon find out that this is actually a mine. So we approach it and realize that this to had a locked gate over it, so we decided to tear it down with left over mining equipment and logs.
Right before we had entered the mine, we had noticed SNOW! Today was 79 degrees, and Montana still has snow.
So we get in and as soon as we enter we see a bunch of mining equipment (shovels, picks, lights, and wheel barrel).
This mine was rediculous! It branched off several different ways, unfortunately my cell died shortly after this.
Three of the four friends i was with in an upper shaft entrance.
Making the Mine smell better.
This was more intense throughout the mine we found mine cart tracks, empty wood boxes and tons of other junk such as shovels, picks, light bulbs, and random metal pieces. We took a couple turns through other shafts but eventually made our way back to the entrance to find out we were in there for over a hour. This little area of land contains numerous amounts of mines and caves so i plan on exploring more and with my Cannon PowerShot instead of my 1.8 mega pixel cell camera. So stay tuned for a more clear, more intense mine egg.
Thanks for viewing my egg, please vote and leave a comment please.
