Intro:
Well to start things off, this is my 3rd exploration egg, and it’s not really all exploration... unless you consider exploring a pow-wow exploring. But let’s get this thing started. If you want to see a bigger image click the ones in the egg. Long over due egg, i took this trip at the beginning of July.
Our gear at the base of Mt. Leconte
We were at the base of the mountain at 4:45 a.m. Smoky Mountain time.
We stayed at the bottom until the sun came up a bit, sorry he sun came up he same direction as the road, so theres also a power line lol
A good ways in this was almost to Rainbow Falls
This was the bridge crossing Rainbow Falls, My cousin is in front of me
One of the Falls at Rainbow falls
I saved this little fella
this was a few miles in, i had left my cousin, so when he caught up he thought a picture was a good idea lol.
Good way to start our hike, a deer we saw as soon as we left out.
Yea idk why i took some of these picture lol
I had the name of this flower wrote down but i don’t remember it.
One of my favorite things that i saw, for some reason, It was just a huge chunk of wood lol.
Random Waterfalls
Me on a random Waterfall
I saved this fella’ too
Clear spots along the way
We also saw a bear on the way up
Never been this happy to see a sign
Finally at the top this is a pic of the lodge
Very short break
This is the overlook "Cliff Tops"
Overlook "Myrtle Point"
You can stay at the lodge but the only way to get there is by hiking, so 3 days a weel they bring clean linens up by Alpaca.
EXTENDED EDITION: NORTH CAROLINA
We cruised over to Cherokee North Carolina, to my favorite place to get food :D , an indian pow-wow.
Some pictures of the dancers
Possibly the greatest food item ever: Indian Taco Salad, Indian Fried bread, tomatoes, onions, chili, and lettuce.
HEADED HOME, the first stormy day all week
Rainbow in there somewhere
I hope youall enjoyed this exploration of Mt. Leconte. I hiked a little over 20 miles the day we went to Leconte. I also have pictures of te 4th f July parade there that i will post on request. It’s the first 4th of july parade in america, starts at 12:01 a.m. July 4th every year. All images were taken with my Canon Powershot 7.0 megapixels, or my sisters Canon Rebel
Aug 22, 2009 8:27 pm - This makes me homesick! Nice work, and it looks like you had a great time. (Can I go with y’all the next time? I’ll chip in for gas!) I think that flower is bergamot, by the way.
Aug 23, 2009 12:34 pm - I only said i saved them, because i did not jump on them....
My Camera is decent and my sister CanonRebel is beyond decent, the reason some of them were blurry is cause of the temperature difference it dropped 18 degrees by the time we got to the top, so the lenses were fogging up.
