What ya need:

tube, kitchen roll tube will do sufficiently
sodium chlorate 50%+ (weedkilla)

sugar

weed and feed stuff containing ammonium sulfate

OK mix 2:1:1 of ammonum sulfate : Sodium Chlorate : Sugar
Mix thoroughly. Cap off 1 end of the tube. Add well mixed mixture to the tube stand up and light it.

It produces think white smoke which i calculate at roughly 3000ft if done correctly.
The gases produce are ammonia and sulfur trioxide and are poisonous and stink like hell. Try not to breath in the vapour.
