How to fill a \\"Smiggle FAT\\" Marker with your own ink!
This is a fairly simple way to fill one of these with a custom ink, or something that doesnt wash off.. because when you buy one, essentialy its a big highlighter. The ink washes off so easily. and it fades within 2 days or so:
You will need:
1x Smiggle FAT Marker pen, there like 4 dollars

2x Balloons/rubber gloves:
Or
Personally i used gloves, i didnt have any balloons but something to this effect. just improvise
1x Ink, about 25-30mL, i didnt measure.
I used my own ink
Whatever works. The ink must be fairly thin, Unlike MOP ink which could just be paint.
How to:
Take your marker and use a knife to peel the lable off, you can leave it if you like it. But I just pulled mine off.
Twist the top as hard as you can, its glued on but you can break it quite easily, maybe i just got a dodgy one but it wasnt too hard.
Take a gloove or balloon and cut off the pinky finger or end of the balloon and push the ink cartridge through the hole like so:
Attatch your balloon or gloove to the tap And turn it on so that the ink runs out of the cartridge. You may have to hold the glove arround the cartridge so water doesnt leek out, I reccomend outside but this ink doesnt stain so i just did it in my bathroom:
Keep the water running until the ink is all gone and the cartridge is all white.
Let the drips run out and then poke a pen or something through to get all the Cotton wool or whatever it is out of the cartridge, pull it apart and let it dry on a newspaper:
Now do the same thing with the nib of the marker, attatch it to the balloon or gloove somehow:
its not that hard to do.
When it is ink free Put it on the paper to dry.. Waiting for things to dry is really boring. So i used a hair dryer, Careful the cotton doesnt blow away:
When its all dry pack the cotton back into the cartidge and come to some sort of set up like this one:
Ink goes into the funnel, through the cartridge and through the nib and drips off into the beaker. When the nib has stopped dripping pour the run off back into the cartridge and let it drip a little bit more.
Re assemble the marker and either Superglue (not to strong, you might want to take it apart again)
Or you could use duct tape like i did, i couldnt find glue. Be careful that you dont tape the lid shut.
Taking the twisty bottom of one of these markers doesnt work, the ink wont come out. its much easier to take the marker apart.
Happy bombing :) refil the marker as many times as you like. I wont post pics of how it looks, this ink is really shit, its all ive got left.
Oct 24, 2009 1:30 am - I would have but i had already torn the lable off my marker, didnt have a balloon and had just used my last pair of gloves. And i make my own ink so i dont have any bottles of grog or krink lying around.
Simple but good, would have been nice if you made all the photos your self.
Why, how could this egg really benefit from pictures of a marker, gloves, balloon and ink? It couldn’t. He got pictures of the "How To" section of the egg, that’s the important stuff.

I was lol’ing at the same thought when I was reading the egg. All this work vs 4 bucks every couple weeks. Though I probably would give this a shot for the hell of it, lol.
