This is in contrast with my how to live in the woods egg. A fire pit is useful for many things. It can keep your fire alive. It also keeps your fire from spreading. Anyway, I’m going to teach you 2 kinds of fire pits.
Tradition Fire Pit: This is a very basic firepit. This fire pit dosent protect your fire, but it keeps it from spreading. Its very basic. Clear out an area of leaves. Find 20-25 medium sized rocks. Make a large circle out of them, abut 2-2 1/2 foot diameter. Clear out all leaves and such within a 5 foot radium of your pit.
In Ground Fire Pit: This controls your fire, and also keeps it from going out with the wind. It is harder to make though. Dig a hole, about 1-1 1/2 feet deep. It should be about 2 feet around. Start your fire in this. It is not as good for warmth, but it is alot better for cooking food. If you build your fire high enough, then this will be alot warmer.
