Gem school was built in Gem Kansas in 1921. At the time Gem was a booming town with saloons and General stores. Most of the Country kids went there. It was a nice school of its time. In the 1940’s a psychotic teacher taught there. He would lure the little kids by candy and toys then he would kill them. he was obviously possessed with the devil. He would hang them by the pipes and hide them in various places around the school he would stick them in the boiler. People were starting to find out about this teacher. One day he was gone without a trace. That is why some people say you can hear children laughing. It was the kids he killed. By that time Gem’s economy was declining, and Gem school had a bad name. In the 1960’s the school and the town continued to go down hill so Gem school closed in 1969 which was 36 years ago. It is said they just left and everything was still there. That explains all the text books and the bookshelfs and desks still sitting there. Since then it just continued to decay and rot while people started breaking in and cooking meth and finally it just started to turn into an all out dump. It is still easy to walk on most of the floors because they are cement and they are bonded to the rest of the building. Some of the wood floors are rotted through and it looks as if some people have fallen through them.
