All right first I would like to tell you that I like to go into all old schools in my area. Levant is a town like Gem.(read my other egg). Levant is just a little bit bigger than Gem. Levant has a few more people living in it than Gem. Levant has an an elevator that grain trucks still go to. The school in Levant is a lot more worn than the Gem school and it is bigger. It opened in 1911 and closed in 1955. Because not very many students were enrolled there in the 50’s because more students were going to Brewster. Brewster is a town about 10 miles away from Levant and the Brewster school is still in operation today. Anyways let me tell you about my visit to the Levant school.
At first when I saw this school in the summer of ’03 I didn’t think that I wanted to go in it. Because in some areas it was just falling apart and the floors were caving in. But in some areas it has cement floors that are bonded to the rest of the structure. So I decided not to go in there until the summer of ’04. I was with my friends Cory and Sean. Cory had his dad’s blue 1998 Dodge Ram. It was sure nice to get this truck because he usually gets his brothers pos.
When we got there it was around 9:00 which at that time it was basically dark. We went into the front doors they were open because there was an electric fence around it. But we went under and got through. The whole inside of the school was falling apart there was junk everywhere. The only source of light we had was Cory’s head lamp that he uses for hunting. We went walking through the first floor and decided it was stable enough. We went walking through the first floor until we found the stair case. Cory saw an area that had a wood floor across the room. He decided to be brave and he went over it. We heard a creaking sound and he fell through the floor. We were like is he ok? We called down there and asked him if he was ok and he said yeah. He was ok he was just a little scuffed up. We decided to go back up to the second floor to look around some more. We were looking around then we saw surveilance cameras so we got out of there, and we never came back. |

Are there wires coming out of the school to run the cameras? If not, are the cameras transmitting on an unused TV channel? If not, the cameras could be dummies. Or, just find the time lapse VCR and destroy it. |
