See, see, I promised I’d write this! I won’t bore you with stories of my life, so I’ll cut right to the chase. This is simply on how to mount various weapons to an R/C plane. If you are a hobbyist and make your own, you can insert your own weapon controls. If you are working off one you already have, you will have to attach a string to the rudder of the plane. You must also have independent control of the rudder, and usually only ones you make are like this. Well, let’s get down to business!
NOTE: The trigger for all the weapons is a lighter trigger (you know, with the little wheel?) Attach the string to one side of the wheel and attach the trigger to the underside of the plane. Usually two are the maximum number of weapons mountable, but if you figure something out, tell me! You fire the weapons by moving the rudder side to side.
NOTE NOTE: Most weapons use fuses to fire, but the incendiary bombs, water balloons and cluster bombs are exceptions. They are fastened to the bottom with a piece of tape, folded onto itself so that it is sticky on all outside surfaces. Pour a small amount of black powder into the crevice, or slide a cake of it in. I have not figured out how to secure it, someone please tell me!
MISSILE: The simplest weapon. Just one of those old-fashioned fireworks that actually take off. Very effective and accurate.
CLUSTER BOMB: A bunch of small firecrackers or paintballs all weakly glued or taped together. Works best on crowds.
WATER BALLOON: Just like the name says. Works well on crowds, also.
SHOTGUN: Not the most effective at more than 10 feet, but at close range it’s devastating. The barrel is a piece of small piping with one closed-off end. The end cap should have a hole with a fuse. Pour back powder down the barrel and insert a separator, like a piece of paper. Then pour in gravel, metal, whatever sharp. Then tape some paper over the end to prevent everything from falling out.
RIFLE: Uses the same technique and barrel as the Shotgun, but instead of a bunch of sharp stuff, you use a single nail. It is possibly the most damaging to enemy planes, as a direct hit will tear out almost all of their components. Powerful and accurate at long distances.
INCINEDARY BOMB: Very potent indeed. Simply my napalm bomb mounted on the wing. No fuse is necessary. Effective over people, buildings and farmer’s fields.
ROMAN CANDLE: Only machine gun I could dream up. Will damage or set fire to virtually anything, but effect dissipates at range.
SPARKLER: Another efficient fire weapon. Can set fire to an entire forest or field in virtually seconds, but requires VERY low altitude to work.
Cool, eh? Now, when you have mounted your choice of weapons on your plane, don’t just fly pointlessly around in your backyard, be creative! Have air wars with your friends, or terrorize the kids at your local school! Be creative!
