I’ve seen lots of plans for these, but this is by far my favorite, taking the best things from most of the plans i’ve tried.

You need:
Long Screws (1.5" if possible)
4 feet of 2" PVC pipe
2 feet of 3" PVC pipe
A 3" to 2" pipe conector
A 3" threaded endcap holder with endcap (this is actually two pieces: a piece that is designed to have the cap screwed into it and the cap itself, but is usually sold as one). it has a raised square on the cap so you can remove it with a wrench
Purple primer (or some other kind of liquid pipe cleaner)
Pipe cement
A screwdriver
A hacksaw (or some kind of electric/circular saw)
A file (or heavy electric sander/grinder)
A grill sparker (the kind with no batteries) or a stun gun
A 5’ long, strong pipe or pole, thiner than 1.5"
Optional for handle:
Epoxy that works with plastic
3/4" pipe
2 1/2" couplers

Making it is very easy:
1. Saw a 4 foot length of the 2" pipe
2. Saw a 2 foot length of the 3" pipe
3. File the cuts so they are resonably smooth. a really uneven cut could make the gun explode, so do a good job.
4. Clean the pipes, removing all that PVC dust and dirt
5. Prime all the joints where they are going to touch the other pipes: both ends of the 3" pipe, one end of the 2" pipe, the end of the endcap attaching to the pipe, both ends of the 3" to 2" converter
6. Cement the endcap and 3" to 2" converter onto the 3" pipe, then cement the 2" pipe onto the other end of the 3" to 2" converter. Use a little extra cement for a strong, airtight seal.
7. Wait 24 hours for the cement to dry.
8. File the end of the barrel to sharpen it so it will cut the potato when you shove it in (it doesn’t have to be very sharp)
9. The sparker can be added in many ways. First hook your sparker up to the two screws , then see how far apart you can hold the screws and still get a spark. Screw the screws into opposite sides of the back end of the 3" pipe, until they are a bit closer than they were when you tested them. Then test it. If you don’t get a spark, screw them in further and keep trying until you do. Your gun will work now, but you can add a handle to make it a lot easier to use. If u are using a grill sparker, you can make an awesome handle: Epoxy the 1/2" connectors together, end to end, then cut a 6" lenght of the 3/4" pipe, cut a notch into the top and glue the notched end onto the connectors. then epoxy the connectors to the bottom of the middle of the 3" pipe, parallel to the pipe. Stick the sparker into one end of the 1/2" connectors and epoxy it in to make a trigger.

To Fire:
Stick in a potato, then ram it down to the end of the 2" section with the rod.
Spray some hairspray, starting ether or other non-messy aerosol spray (NEVER USE BUG SPRAY) into the back of the 3" section for 4-6 seconds. Then cap the end, aim and trigger the sparker. If it works well, it will shoot a potato over 100 yards. You might need a pipe wrench to get the cap off once in a while, but other than that, happy shooting.

Nice copy and paste. There are so many instructions on the internet to make a potato cannon, stop posting them on RE.

IMPORTANT: I just tested my gun with starting ether, DON’T USE 4-6 SECONDS OF ETHER!!! That could make your gun explode (or more likely just not fire). 1-2 seconds of ether is enough. It is better than static guard, axe or hairspray. You can get far more shots per bottle than you’ll probably ever need. 4-6 seconds is fine for hairspray (which sucks)
