Allrighty. This is a fun little recipe for a mild high explosive. It is a lot of fun.
Things you need:
-Iodine cyrstals(steal some from your school, or there might be other recipes out there to get them)
-Household Ammonia
-Glassware
Procedure:
1. If the cyrstals are large, crush them. A powder would be best.
2. Put a large amount of ammonia into a large glass beaker(or a cup, bowl, whatever)
3. Put the crushed Iodine into the ammonia.
4. Wait overnight.
5. There should be some purple cyrstals in there now. Take them out.Be careful.
6. The cyrstals shouldn’t be to volatile, but let them dry and they will explode if you throw them against something.
This isn’t that powerful, but it’s lots of fun to throw around, and leave under car tires, etc. The cyrstals are called Nitrogen Triiodide. Sometimes called ammonium triiodide. Have fun! Once again, kill yourself and its not my fault. Oh yeah, when they explode they put off Iodine gas. Be careful, these things stain purple.
Feb 23, 2005 10:16 am - Actually, I did not copy it. I got it out of a book at home. But yes, it is fairly popular and well known. It is quite possible that someone else has it written up. As for how powerful it is, the answer is not very. It’s not very dangerous, except it large amounts. It’s fun to stuff in door cracks when wet. It dries, and someone opens the door, they get quite the surprise.
Jan 15, 2006 6:33 pm - Good in general i guess...except a few things
You dont need to wait overnight, more like about half an hour to an hour
AND...Dont fucking touch the crystals! After you pour off the excess, pour them out someplace and LEAVE THEM. Wherever you put them is where you should want them to go off. Touching them will cause them to explode. If a fly lands on a dry crystal of nitrogen triiodide, it will explode.
A r 07, 2006 8:33 pm - Very true that a fly could set it off. However, as I already have mentioned, that will only happen if you use pure ammonia. Household stuff will make impure explosive, which is less sensitive. And you can make Iodine cyrstals with the liquid shit, but it is hard. Easier to pinch some off of the high school lab. If you want the recipe to make iodine cyrstals, go to armory.com. Used to have the recipe on there somewhere.
Feb 01, 2007 5:13 pm - Even thought this is household iodine dont touch the crystals. Thats just stupid. FEATHERS and FLIES set these things off to a pretty decent sized explosion, not to mention the risk of chemical burn. (i dunno if thats a risk or not but you can tbe to careful)
May 27, 2007 12:23 am - touch explosive I recently made some nitrogen triiodide{touch explosive] got the iodine chrystals online and used household ammonia.soaked it overnite.(use clear ammonia} when dry THIS STUFF WENT OFF LIKE A MOTHAFUCKER!! be careful.it will explode by its own weight if in a pile.
May 27, 2007 12:32 am - touch explosive I soaked 25 grams in about 1/3 a quart of clear ammonia overnite.next day spooned out sludge into 5 piles, when dry all it took was a touch with a long stick.Ear ringing explosion, about 1/2 the power of an m-80 I would guess,be carefull.
