This egg is for those kids that live near a small creek and in a place that you claim has nothing fun to do

I’m not exactly enlightening you with a barrel of wisdom or anything, but when me and my brother thought of this idea we thought it was great and we have alot of fun with it.

To enjoy a fun rafting experiance when ever you want you don’t have to spend big bucks on a guided rafting trip and renting expensive rafts for the day. Just go to walmart and buy a 10$ raft and a 10$ paddle set. you can spend 20$ and now go rafting when ever you want.

--the raft-- If you buy a smaller cheap raft, sit backwards so that the fatter part is behind you, it’s Alot more comfortable.

--paddles-- Make sure you buy the paddle pack where you can screw both paddles together and make a kayak paddle. (one stick with a paddle on each end) just open the pack in walmart and see if it can be done. Trying to raft in a 1 person boat with anything other than a kayak paddle won’t work well.

--best time-- Even if you don’t have a creek deep enough to raft in; you proably do. Just wait for a huge rain to happen and go rafting right after. Flooded creeks are the most fun to raft.

--place-- do a search online for local rafting trip hosts. find out where it is and any other info and just go make your own rafting trip without them.

(some extra info that I have learned)
wear flip flops incase you need to step into the water and on some rocks.

bring beer for the calm spots on the creek

bring plastic bags for your ciggaretts, lighters, cell phone, wallet ect. also bring paper towels

scope out the trip before hand. there could be low level bridges and dams on the creek that can be dangerous. (just find a spot where you can go around)

leave towels in the end point car

(MAKE SURE) you look up your route on mapquest.com and park a car at the end point. then drive to the start with your rafts and shit.

I do this all the time at the creek near my house. I usually take my raft up for about a mile. After about a mile the sides get really steep not to mention they get over 10 feet high at that point. The calmness out in the West Oso...Nothing can replace that feeling. Anyway, good egg, nice pics. 5

I always wanted to do this, there is a huge drainage ditch behind my house. It is about 10-12 feet deep (when full) and about 20 feet across. I already explored down there, so I know what to do. Only problem is that there is a REALLY low bridge that will end it. But before the bridge, the ditch spilts into a Y and I could raft down the other one.

watch out for drainage ditches. manmade creeks flow faster and are harder to escape from.

--MORE-- always go with a friend. rafting by yourself is not a good idea.
-bring duct tape incase your raft pops (it’s won’t work really well, but it will get you home at least)
-popped rafts can be fixed with this stuff called "Goop". it’s for plumbers but you can get it at any walgreens / walmart. works great!

I live in florida, and just so happens my main fear is of anything that has an advantage in water. Plus most "creeks" near me are for sewage which i gess isnt a creek, real fun though.
