Hello again. It’s been a while since I’ve posted any exploration eggs, I did all of this about a week ago... so here it is!

Last week, I went north to visit my parents (I’m not a 14-year old pyro with 2 missing fingers, contrary to popular belief). They live in a perfect little suburb, with little kids everywhere, where the cars drive extra slow, and where everyone goes to church. Now, you see, the suburb was built, block by block, over time. On one side, Old Maple (as we call it). On the other, New Maple. My parents live in New Maple (as I did, up to a few years ago). The two are separated by a valley, maybe a kilometre across, very nice little place with a river running down the middle. About 3/4 of the way across, near OM, hidden by long grass and trees, is a storm drain opening. Maybe 5 foot 5 high, just enough to make you crane your neck and get one hell of a cramp. There are heavy (and I mean HEAVY, the bars are almost an inch thick) grates covering the opening. There had always been a big padlock over the grates, effectively forbidding entrance... until I went down there to relax last week, when I was over for the weekend. I casually strolled over to the drain, and... the padlock was gone (as a matter of fact, it sat, rusting, about 2 feet upstream)! I ran home as fast as I could, grabbed a flashlight and a can of spray paint from the garage (no camera...:( my parents wouldn’t let me bring theirs. Still don’t trust me...), and went to the drain.

About 5 feet up, and this bugs me, is a dead rabbit (i.e, stinking piece of shag carpetting with legs). A small stream always runs down the middle, so you are forced to take big steps over the carcass. Now, I’m gonna measure the rest in tunnel segments. Each segment is roughly 10 to 12 feet ong, so use that as reference. Aside from the rabbit, the tunnel is uneventful until you get about 45 segments up. At that point, it bends, and then 10 more segments up you come to a circular room about 10 feet across. Up one side there are steps, and at the top there is a manhole. I believe that it is on the first road off of the valley. Ufortunately, I couldn’t climb it because some kind soul had placed 2 dead rats of the first step about 2 feet up, and I wasn’t in the mood to be touching any corpses. There is also some graffiti of a skull and the words "Go Away!"... kinda lame. I continued on, and 25 segments up, there are 2 smaller offshoots on the right side, with one of them sputtering water. Above it, someone had spray-stencilled the words "Feel free to take a drink". I dunno what to make of it. There’s nothing more until about 60 segments on, where you reach a second chamber. This one has a large indent in the middle, where water pools to about a foot deep. There is no ladder or manhole in this one, but there are about 10 smaller pipes hooked up to it that were, at the moment, dry. I continued on, and about 15 segments on there was a hatch on the ceiling. Being the probing little bastard I am, I opened it up and went in. Inside, here were a bunch of pipes coming from the walls with end caps on them, and a single valve that seems to do nothing. There was also a ladder leading up to a hatch, one that I would have to use later. On the floor there was a bunch of equipment for making crystal meth, and a few bags of it. Be Cool, Stay in School! I dumped the equipment and the drugs in the stream, and continued on, but first judiciously spraypainting the Lambda symbol on the hatch. 40 segments up, I came to a open, airy chamber that had a large section of grating rather than a manhole. It seemed to open up in a park. However, it was raining. Hard, at that. I backtracked rather quickly to the hatch in the ceiling, and climbed up. in the time it took me to reach it, the water had risen to about 5 inches, and my feet were wet. I climbed up the ladder, and opened up the hatch. It led to a vertical corridor about 15 feet high, with a steel door at the top. Thankfully, it wasn’t locked, and it opened up to a maintenance hut with a leaf blower, bags of fertilizer and some rakes. I kicked open the door, and stepped out into the glorious surface world. With no idea where I was, I took a cab back to my parent’s house. If I go back up any time soon, I’ll bring a camera.

That’s pretty sweet. What’s with the Lambda symbol? You play halflife? I’ll give it a 3 cause it was written well, would have been five had you remembered your camera.
