I have been on rotteneggs for a long time now and I have seen good eggs, bag eggs, and what appears to be dog shit posted on the web. What follows is my ideas on what makes a good egg, and not spam shit.
1. First have something to say that others might want to read. This can be whatever you want, so long as it is slightly informative to anyone with an IQ higher than 5.4.
2. Be topical, have details, and thoughtful adivice. People come here to learn, damnit!
3. If something belongs on a forum, put it there.
4. Use pictures. People will be atracted to the pretty colors.
5. Don’t waste space here. I’m sure someone has to pay for this server. But doesn’t mean writing a egg that is two lines either. Make your space count.
6. How many freaking copys of the anarachist cookbook and ideas on shoplifting do we need here people? Try something new!
7. Don’t copy someone else’s stuff. If you do, at least make note of it.
8. Last but certainly not least; try to be polite and don’t use the eggs as a means of insulting people. That is childish and wrong. You know who you are.
