ok you know when you click on my computer and it has hard drive and floppy drive and stuff well my cd drive doesn’t show up there and if i stick in a disk it wont do anything. I don’t think it’s a virus because why would a virus need your cd rom drive.

It sounds like your IDE cable is dead (or came disconnected).
Buy a new cable.

I lol’d at the title, because I was tired.
I have absolutely no idea why this would happen. Restart.

^nah, it wouldnt just fuck up, plus his hd is prbably conected by the same lead, so if it fucked up his hd would to

goto Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager

see if that shows your cd drive, if your cd drive is conected it will show there but with errors

if the lead is fucked it wont show at all, let us know how it goes

No, Optical and Disk Drives would use seperate connections.

A motherboard has several IDE connections, the hard drive AND disk drive will not be connected to the same one. Especially if its a SATA Drive, then the connections are completely different. What kind of hard disk do you have?

They can be on the same power lead, but they can not be on the same data-transfer connection.

Battery, I think your CD and HD are powered by linked Molex connections, not linked to the Motherboard by the same IDE cable.
