I just made this ring out of an Australian 20c coin. Kick-ass. It took about an hour and a half all up, I’ve still got to do about 10 minutes of extra polishing. The best part is it only costs 20c to make one!
I can make an egg on it if "y’all" want to now how to make one. I think it’s pretty damn awesome! The lettering "Elizabeth II Australia 1999" (I’m gunna make one with a significant year) is still visible on the edge... nice. It looks better in person.
It’s so shiny. Seriously, it looks just like a real, expensive ring. I’m one proud chap!

^^^ Did you know that when money gets really old and it is starting to get wrecked banks shred the money.
If you go on a tour of a bank or a mint (yay free samples) they sometimes let you have bags of shreaded money :)

I think because the metal is actually worth something, it’s not illegal. Say if you melted down a bunch of coins and sold the alloy/metal, I’m fairly sure thats not illegal. I don’t think it’s illegal. I couldn’t give a fuck, really. The cops around here are fairly cool anyway, I think they’d probably just want to know how I did it, if they even found out it was a coin.
The process is relatively simple. Hammering, gutting and polishing.
Basic process; I hammered the coin for about half an hour. Which is holding it vertically against an anvil, hammering the coins edge until that thickness was reached. Then, I drilled a hole (I forget, it was about 5-6mm), used a ’metal router bit’ (using a Dremel) thing(I’ll a put a picture in the egg) to gut the hole out, then smoothed the inside out with a Dremel sanding drum when the hole was the size it is now. Then I cut some rubber tire tube, wrapped it around the sanding drum, and put the coin over it. This was to hold the coin so I could polish it at high speed (which was just roughing out the dings with 240 grit emery cloth, then 800, followed by Brasso, then Silvo (polishes)... about 1/2 an hour in that). It was a labour of love, and well fucking worth it! It’s kickass! It’s fairly easy to do, too. I usually fuck these sort of things up royal. Not today!
I’ll make an egg with pictures, that explanation was pretty vague. Not tomorrow, I’m going to see David Suzuki. The next day hopefully. Happy now? Glad to see you cats like my bling.

Pfft. Fuck trains. A little update; It’s legal in the U.S, but not here. I could get:
A) 2 years
B) $10,000 fine... Funny if I payed the fine with 50,000 coin rings.
Unless there’s a little loophole somewhere. It’s not really ’destroying, defacing or disfiguring’... It’s a work of art now. Fuckin’ government.
