Hey I was just watching Mythbusters, and they made something called a faraday cage. Basically, it’s a room thats walls consist of brass mesh. The point of this is to block radar waves. I know people often talk of those "shoplifting bags" layered with tinfoil so that the detectors cannot sense the item inside. I don’t know how the detectors work, and whether or not they use radar, but I was thinking... If they used radar, would that mean a much more compact bag lined with a (possibly even single) layer of brass mesh have the same effect as the so-called "shoplifting bags?"

Wow, I did not know that... I’m not sure if he named himself after me, or if he wanted the name and did that because it was taken. Anyways, thanks alot for notifying me about that!

If something as simple as a brass mesh could allow someone to shoplift so easily, I doubt they would even have those rader door blocker things.

That makes sense, but how common is brass mesh? I don’t think common metalic mesh is made of brass, but other metal...

Read the topic, filthysanchez! I know that people line bags with aluminum foil to block the shopping detectors. I was just wondering, because brash mesh blocks radar, if a bag lined with brash mesh would work just as well. I’m not sure what type of sensors they are at the store, although if they’re radar, it seems to me that it would work.
