Heres what I recorded on my phone as the cop was driving us back to our cars after being booked. Bad enough we got caught, but he had to add insult to injury with his stupid ass lecture.

It continues from there. My cell only records 60 seconds at a time.

Christ, no offense neither of you are right. Noise was not a factor, the hospital has about a mile of nothing around it in every direction. There is no way to see the flashlights in the halls as there are no windows. The only reason they found us was because they found the cars.
So your guesses are completely off.

Getting caught is not an issue, unless the cop decides to be a dick or its a high profile location.
Running is.
When you run that means you have admitted your guilt. Allthough when we see an authority figure when doing somthing illegial it is natural instint to run, but what you are doing is a victimless crime; why run?
If you had stood your ground and explained that you were just a bored bunch of kids they might of let you off with a warning, but since you ran you had made the cops put out the extra effort to get your ass so they were going to put the extra effort in to press charges to the fullest extent of the law.

When I do high-risk UE’s I park (and lock) my scooter at least 500m away from place of entry (IE. A gate) and in a place where it can’t be seen.
You could of saved the jail time and parked the mile away and walked in.

i agree with clegg, if u dont run and tell the cop wots goin on they will let u off with a warning or somethin but if its some dickhead new cop then it’ll be pretty be worth runnin. good egg tho and pretty badass as doin it, probs somethin u wont forget.

Running from cops is the best thing to do in trespassing situations.
1. You can get away
2. You don’t know if the cops is having a bad night and will be a dick
3. They wont charge you with resisting arrest
Your theory is bunk, they didnt press charges, we got off with a warning. If I had listened to that advice before I can guarantee you I’d have a lot more arrests under my belt.
You have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of running right then and there, there is no correct solution for every situation.

Eh...I think that both and neither of you are right at the same time. While what Clegg says about simply explaining your intentions and not running if you’ve done nothing really wrong does work in theory and from stories I’ve heard, I have personally ended up in the back of a cop car in cuffs from thinking exactly that. Albeit, the fact that I was in the middle of an urban area may have added to the decision not to let us off with nothing, but besides trespassing, I was doing nothing wrong.
The fact of the matter is that there is no definite answer, in my mind, to the question of whether or not urban explorers should run when approached by police. Countless unpredictable factors contribute to why a cop would, or would not arrest you.

Even if this site hadn’t turned to shit, I wouldn’t come back. I wasted way too many hours trying to make friend with people thousands of miles away from me who I would never meet, when I could have been out having a good time with real people.

I just get pissed off when people who weren’t there try to tell you what you should or shouldn’t have done. Hindsight is 20/20, it doesn’t take a frigging genious to point out mistakes in the past.
