Welcome to the thread!
Many people enjoy online gaming and I’m sure many members of rotteneggs enjoy it too. Because of this I have made a thread profiling many fun and free online games for members to check out and play against each other.
The beauty of this thread is that if you are in the mood for a game you can post in this thread with the game name and server IP and if any members are keen then they can join and play with you.
If you think that any game is missing or you have a dedicated server or a private server that members of the site can use please post it here so I can add it to future versions of this thread.

Fear Combat
Fear Combat is a first person shooter that I have to say... fucking rules. The nice folks who make the game ( buy it.. single player rocks) have decided to release the multiplayer version of the game for free!
To get the free version you need to go to this web page: http://www.joinfear.com/main. You will need to put in your age, make sure you put in a date that would make you over 18 as you will not be able to get the game if you don’t. If you do not put your age at 18 or over you’ll have to delete your cookies and re-input your age. Now you will need to sign up to receive a cd key for the multiplayer version of the game in your email. So make sure you use a valid email adress! Now you need to download the file which is around 1.76 GB. Then just install the game and put in the cd-key which you got in your email. When you start the game you might need to download a patch to update the game so you can play it online. So do that and then you can start blowing off peoples arms with shotguns!

Soldat
A fast, fun sidescrolling shooter. The closet thing I can describe it to is Quake + Worms + Counterstrike all combined. It was after making rivalZone rage quit the game and then have Po and Psycho rape me I was inspired to make this thread. For nothing short of fast fun addicting frags get this game. This game is free but for something like 9 bucks you can unlock some extra features in the game but these do not give you an upper hand over your opponent or make the gameplay any better at all.

Open Arena
Basically its Quake 3 arena but its free. It doesnt include thousands of maps and loads of character customisation options like the full game but it is as fun as heck and easy to get into and pwn. I highly recomend this game.

Halo: Combat Evolved Trial
Although only a demo this game can provide hours of fun, It only has the blood gulch map but it has those flying alien craft and warthogs which make it extra fun.

Battlestations: Midway Demo
Battlestations is a new genre defining game which hasnt been released yet. Imagine this, you are at an airfield In the middle of WW2 creating aircraft and ordering them to go intercept an enemy formation coming to destroy your shipyard, then you go to your ship yard and create a submarine and tell it to go try sink an enemy aircraft carrier, Now you switch on the fly to your aircraft in the intense action of a dogfight amongst exploding flak other shit. Then switching to your submarine and launching torpedos into the hull of the enemies ships. Although at first I was fucking lost and had no idea what to do I memorised as many controls as I could and played a few online battles and as soon as you get the hang of the game it is fucking amazing, A mix of RTS and action/sim all at once. Just dont give up on the game, get the hang of the game first then give it a verdict.

Alien Arena 2007
Another fast paced deathmatch game similar to Quake 3 / Openarena. Although it has a retro alien theme to it. Looks like shit loads of fun and has loads of guns.

A fun WWII Team based game reminescent of the team fortress mod for half life. Choose between 5 different classes and jump right into the action.

BZ Flag
An old school battlezone style game where you pick up flags which provide powerups to get better weapons or other modifications. Movement is controlled by mouse which I think is a cool feature.

You forgot Warrock. Thats a good free online FPS.

Americas Army: Special Forces

In America’s Army: Special Forces, players attempt to earn Green Beret status by completing individual and collective training missions drawn from the Special Forces Assignment and Selection (SFAS) process. Players who complete the SFAS process have the opportunity to take on elite Special Forces roles and are qualified to play in multiplayer missions with units ranging from the elite 82d Airborne Division to the 75th Ranger Regiment. The game features a number of training missions to get you familiar with the controls as well as learning the roles and weapons of a Special Forces soldier. Roles include Weapons Specialist (18B), Intelligence (18F), Engineer (18C), Communications (18E) and Combat Medic (18D).
The game is boring at the start because you have to do the training. But is a lot of fun when you get to play, very realistic.
