This just may be the most retarded conspiracy theory yet!
Believe it or not, there are people out there who are not convinced that the world is round. Yes, I know, space travel, communications, structural engineering, astronomy, etc all rely on the fact that our planet (and most others) are round. Too bad the Flat Earth Society didn’t get the memo.
At first, I thought that the Flat Earth theory was a thought experiment of some kind. Unfortunately, some of these nuts are dead-serious. Let’s look at some of the “proof” that they give for a flat Earth.
- All pictures taken from Earth orbit are faked.
- A huge ice wall forms the perimeter of the flat Earth.
- Gravity is caused by the flat Earth’s rapid upwards acceleration (like an elevator)
- All so-called “satellite signals” are actually broadcast from towers.
- There is a world-wide international conspiracy to prevent the true shape of Earth from coming to light
