Whenever I run a program that uses DirectX (Battlefield 2 in this case) there is no sound. All other non-DirectX applications do not have this problem. Also, when I run dxdiag, I get this error: "error retrieving extra sound info. error code: 0X0004005 (generic failure)"

Anyone ever have this problem, or does anyone know how to fix it?

Try reinstalling DirectX. Or update, if you’re running 8 or lower?
