well my friend is a plumber and they use heavy duty nail guns in them you put these little cartridges. the cartridges are brass and seem to possibly explode to sent the nail flying. well i opened them up and there this metal filing looking stuff in them. i lit it on fire and it burnt quite fast i think it could be poorly powdered magnesium but how would that send a nail flying. can someone tell me what the metal stuff in them is.

It wasn’t magnesium powder. Trust me.
Did it go up with a puff sound? or just burn fairly quickly? It is some kinda explosive no doubt. Probaly some kind of black powder.

it looks like small metal chips. and it burns fairly strong and bright but i don’t know if its strong enough for firecrackers and i don’t wanna waste casing and stuff.

It’s smokeless powder numbnuts. You know, gun powder? Nitrocellulose based propellant. Same shit that’s in bullets. There could be a composition variation for the application (compared to real bullets) but probably not. Check the casing for a primer. If there’s a primer then it’s smokeless powder. And even more obviously, does it emit much smoke when you burn it?
Does it look like this?

lol... I’m a dumbass...
And what I ment by some kind of black powder was that it could have been a slightly different composition to make it burn slower or something...
Ether way Po owns us...

yes po it looks like that but there doesn’t appear to be a primer but the end of the bullet like thing looks a bit like a big primer.

Try lighting finely powdered magnesium with a match, then tell me when the skin on your hands grows back.
