I drive through a toll booth each day and was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to defeat it.

The booth is pretty old and isn’t one of the state ones on the highway, rather its a much more basic municipal one on top of a bridge. Many other bridges cross the same river, however they are much more out of my way, making the expense of gas impractical to use them to avoid the toll.

The booth has two lanes for each direction of traffic (so 4 total) and they have old looking cameras at each one. I don’t feel the advertised spray or covers will work because I don’t believe the cameras use a flash mechanism.

any ideas? perhaps driving through it really fast? anyone do this on a daily basis?

In New Zealand you can refuse to pay the toll and I’m pretty sure they just let you through.

My cousin got hurt skiing on a mountain in France, and ski patrol would not take him down in a tabogan unless he paid them alot of money upfront.

Damn you General!

Yeah it was lol. Just thought you people needed to know.

You could try paying the toll thing with car wash tokens.
Every year I go out into the puget(sp) sound with my freinds on their 44ft boat, and we have to stop in these ports to take showers that cost money and sometimes we get away with using car wash tokens instead of real money, and we have so many carwash tokens because one of the people that comes with us owns a car wash and he just gets em from there. But yeah....just try different coins.

I have an I-pass, but this is NOT a state run highway, its a municipal toll, which means its run by the city.

and yeah, I am a cheap ass for not paying the toll. But a buck to get across and if I do it at least twice a day and sometimes up to 4 times adds up and it only accepts change. and this toll is sure as hell not going towards road improvements in my area.

To be honest, on the highways I do not mind the tolls in Illinois. Sure they are high as fuck and the delays are really really bad, but the highways are in decent shape and the response of emergency vehicles isn’t too bad.

But this bridge is fucking robbery. Its a run down little booth charging me to cross a god damn river miles from the other bridges. The money is NOT improving the roads. Call me cheap and a bottom feeder, but I don’t want to spend my money. Think of the numbers, if I spend anywhere from 2-6 dollars a day, 5 times a week, plus gas at over 3 bucks a gallon and the tolls on the interstate, I’m getting charged an rm in the leg.

I’ve never had the opportunity to get a car, so how could I not get one?

Changing the route is an option, and I know I must seem like an ASS but changing the route adds a lot more time as in a good 10-15 minutes or more depending on red lights and traffic. As well, cops tend to infest the other roads as do semis.

The plate idea would work, but it I’m guessing LEO’s might notice a strip of duct tape on my plate?

I’m really not sure what real solution will work, lasers in the camera sounds like bullshit, plate protectors won’t work (because they are based on overexposure) and I doubt speeding will work.

Maybe I’ll have better luck on totse.
