Half of it is still there like a tree stump:
It doesn’t hurt, as the nerve is long dead, but it’s sharp as a knife, and can cut my cheek and tongue if I’m not careful.
This one’s been a problem since at least 1985, when a dentist misread an X-ray, ground out a chunk, and put in a filling. It fell out, and was replaced in 1989. That one fell out, too; I thought I found a cherry pit in the pie I was eating, but it was the filling. The tooth sat unrepaired for about three years, and the nerve finally died when the tooth filled with abcess. I had a thorough root canal, and a new amalgam filling in 1999.
Last week, I found something crunchy in an eggroll. There goes the filling again. The dentist, who last worked on it in 1999, told me the filling held, and it was the tooth below it that gave way. I’ll be getting a metal post rammed through the root, and a crown molded onto the stump.
Any dental horror stories to share? I’ve found dental work to be not that unpleasant, but every ten years or so is often enough as far as I’m concerned.

I had a tooth well over 1 inch long, and I had to get it surgically removed when I was 5 years old. The aftermath was that it took almost 1 year for the other tooth to replace it, and the week after the removal, I had liquify everything I ate or something might go into the hole and skin would heal over it.

Damn, that’s rough!
I suppose I could file them all down myself, and replace them with leftover bits of marble from a tile project. That’d be purty.

My teeth don’t look perfect, but they are, well they will be if I stop drinking all this coke...
I have never had any fillings, braces, aesthetic work, jobs... anything. I hope it stays that way.

I have near perfect tooth alignment, and never had braces or a chip.
I should really brush more often though.

I broke my 3 of my teeth in a bike wreck when I was ten, since then I’ve had them rebuilt about 8 times, had a root canal, had them bleached every few years when they turned gray, and finally, in October of ’06, I had all of my teeth bleached, had temporary crowns put in, then permanent crowns. I think my dentist probably has a boat named after me by now.

My teeth just straight up suck, I’ve got 2 cavitys that you can really see and most likely a third somewhere.

Had a palate expander from 3rd grade to 4th grade, because the palate of my mouth was too small and had to be expanded. Had braces from the middle of 4th grade till’ about last month, and now I’m just wearing a retainer.
The only "horror" story I have is when I had my palate expander removed. It was removed with some high speed bit that cut away at the metal. I had some inexperienced person remove it, and they cut up the roof of my mouth in the process of removing it.
