There have been 22 robberies on my street this week...
I live in suburbia, so this is rather uncommon...
I was wondering what the consequences of killing a burglar would be, once they trespass on your property.

just declare self defense. and you can kill anybody that walks in your house without permission. it’s not admired by law but you wont get in trouble.

Assuming that you’re American I’m going to say that you should probably do a citizens arrest. I’ve seen cases where a girl was raped and the attacker got off because the girl wore a miniskirt.

the answer to this question relies completely on your own local laws.
Call your local police department and ask them.
In louisville they just changed the law and made it legal to use deadly force to protect your personal property, regardless of whether you feel threatened. Before that though, the law was totally screwed up and people were getting convicted of manslaughter in almost every case where somebody pleaded self defence in a homicide case.

In Colorado we have the "Make my day law" which says if someone is INSIDE your house and you feel that yourself or anyone in your HH is in danger, you may use lethal force. Do you live in Colorado?

Like Keiser said it really depends where you live, here in Ireland you can’t kill an intruder unless he is going to kill you and you really need to be able to prove it was self defense to get off murder.
