there is no reason for it.
there are two reasons for marrige:
A)religous
B)monetary
homosexuality is not approved by ANY religion.
so if the government will do it like NJ did it, giving them the same legal rights but without calling it marriage, everyone should be happy.

This belongs in debate.
Personally, I don’t give a shit. I don’t support or protest it.

Gays want the legal rights of marriage so let them have those rights. Call them life partners or something, they don’t need to be married in a church.

i’m straight, but i believe that gays and lesbians should have every right that we do... being gay isn’t necessarily a choice... your sexuality is determined by a chemical balance in your brain... if a man loves another man, then yes, they should be allowed to marry, because love is love, no matter what

I have a second aunt that has a "life partner" but they have no legal rights as marriage. One of them is a professor and the other is a dentist I think but the other can’t share the health care of the proffessor nor the dental plan of the other because they LEGALLY aren’t connected in any way.
This isn’t an issue of tradition or man/woman matrimony, what marriage means. This is an issue of sheer human rights.

No. This could create to many strange legal problems. Quick example: Two guy sharing an apartment for five years. In a common law marriage state, would you be married?

"Separation of church and state" it says somewhere in one of those important pieces of paper that dictate how we should run our American society, yet when Gay Marriage comes up they always say it goes against God or some shit. Yeah, way to follow separating church and state.

For all the retards in the paper that say the government shouldn’t get involved in marriage, I say we remove the marriage benefits the government gave them.
