Just select the option that says to keep Windows on (I assume you want to dual boot) and it’ll ask you how much space you want. Just keep the basic/simple/whatever it is stuff in the wizard.

The options are:
Guided - use entire disk,
Guided - use the largest continuous free space, or
Manual

You will need to create 2-3 new partitions]
Partition 1--> "Swap" Size--> 1.0 - 2.0 GB
Partition 2--> "ext3" Mount Point--> "/" Size--> Depends on the HDD but I’d go with at least 15.0 - 20.0 GB
Partition 3--> "ext3" Mount Point--> "/home" Size--> Use the rest of the free space on the HDD

My instructions are if you did it manually.
You can also try shrinking the Windows partition and then use "Guided - use the largest continuous free space"

How big is your hard drive?
How much space do you want to leave for Windows?

Let’s use about 80.0 GB for Ubuntu, that leaves about 170.0 GB for Windows.

Step 1--> go into the manual option and resize the windows partition to roughly 170 GB (don’t do this if you don’t have 170 GB of free space on Windows)
Step 2--> create the partitions that I stated earlier.
Step 3--> set the mount point for the windows partition as "/windows/C" (without the quotes) [This step is optional]

Once it is resized, then you can create the 3 new partitions from the free space
