Hi, i am having problems with my PC!
When i plug my computer in at the mains it starts automatically without me pressing the button on the actual computer, but nothing appears on the monitor.
Its as if the computer isnt sending anything across to the monitor to show anything on the screen..But obviously theres a bigger problem to it because it starts automatically if it gets plugged in.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Well if it was just the monitor why would the pc start up on its own, without me wanting it to come on?
If i remember rightly it used to let out random beeps, either when it was starting up, or it sometimes went really slow, or crashed and beeped.

The starting up on its own might be a seperate problem,
If it has more than 1? beep on start up, It means somethings wrong,
And you can see how many beeps means what in your motherboards manual(available online)

You prolly have an old computer (or just an odd one) where it has a weird switch. If you press the button, it changes from on to off whether the thing’s got power or not. Still doesn’t have power, so it can’t do anything, but when you plug in, the switch is letting current through. Computer=on. And do you have any beeps? What computer do you have? Who do you think you are freeloading off RE in the first place? I have bacon, sausages and an English muffin waiting for me.

beeping can also mean that your ram is loose , loose ram would also cause the monitor to be blank. check your ram sockets.

If i plug it in, it turns on, the only way i can turn it off again is to pull the plug out.
This happened exactly as the same time as the computer stopped contacting the monitor.
So im pretty sure they arent separate problems.

Sounds like its the case not the computer.. I am guessing that the button on the case has a short in it. Get a new case From Newegg.com or E-bay for way cheap.
