I am currently on the Tech path at my high school. I want to work with cars when I get older. I know of two tech schools I want to go to, so that’s not my problem. The problem is, I want to work with cars, but I don’t want to change oil for a living. I want to "fix up" cars and make them fast and that sort of stuff. Working with high performance parts and engines. Any job names or advice I could get.

Auto mechanic NOT at a quick lube.
Your best bet would be some shitty tuner shop that sells "pimp rims", or other unnecessary gaudy crap.

It’s better to keep working on cars as a hobby, not a career, eventually you will hate doing it.

He’s 100% correct. Once I dropped it as a hobby and made it a profession, I FUCKING HATED IT.
I dropped out of college in automotive solely because I didn’t see wasting my money or time learning how to do something I hate doing.
It’s fun to do on the site, I’d never pick it back up though. Hell, it’s a bitch convincing myself to do an oil change on my own shit anymore.

It’s what I’ve had my mind set for awhile now. I can see how it would get boring, but I’ve never really thought about it in that way...
