ok, this is all starts off with meeting my new I.T teacher. about everyleson, that she has been giving out work (ushaly 5 pages of info and instructionis) i have asked my teacher to explain almost all of the questions, and key points writen on the sheets. i was only doing this for my own good, not trying to be an asshole or anything, but because im a shit reader. as this went on, about...a week ago, the teacher said we are having our first SAK (magor assesment task), i was worried, not about the work, because I.T is one of me eprerties/key skills, but because we were having to make some complex coding for a site, and we had to provide all the info for it. i knew my result for the task would be effected by my spelling. I asked the teacher "if there are to mean spelling mistakes, will we get heaps of point de-ducted from our overall mark or is there a limit on how much you can de-duct because of our spelling?" she answerd with "there is a limit of how much points we can d-duct due to spelling errors, why Gab? do you have dificulty spelling to?" this was unsettling for me, knowing my teacher was awear of my dyslexia. one class mate of mine said "haha mis, his fucken reterded, baddspella!". due to my self asteam, i did not argue or defend myself, but i blushed and staied back at my computer screen and continued on with the work.
about 15 min befor the piriod(class) ended, the teacher came up to my, and quietly said "excuse me gab, id like to have a word with you outside"
i did not question her why, not did i say anything, but minimised the visual basics work i was working on and followed the teacher out of the class.
she started off by asking me "you have truble spelling ye gab?"
"yer, im prety crap at spelling, always been like that" i answerd.
"you spell the words how they sound, iv piced that up from your work, you also have truble reading to, my son has the same problem"
i looked at my shoose with disconfert and looked back up at her.
"it must be fustrating"she said "you may not be a good reader or a good speller, but you are verry brite, and you display it it almost all aspects of your classwork and class behavoir"
"thanks", not knowing how i was spose to act i looked arund the corradoor and then adjusted my ocous back on her.
"i just wont to let you know that i have no problem with you asking me to read the work out to you, and i wont be so hard on yoru spelling, but i dont wont to make you feel unconfertable at the same time eather"
i quickly answerd "ok thanks miss" in the need to quickly end this unconfertable conversation.
i walkeked back in side and continued with my work.
and thout about what the hell just went on.
2 days later we did our sak (major assesment task)and i got 76% a B. i noticed that on the criteria sheet, she ticked 3 (out of 5) for my spelling, altoe i was sure she only ticked that in pitty.
i have been avoing asking my teacher to read me thing i dont udertsand or that dont make scence to me, and i just get class members to explain it to me, this ushaly ends up in being called a dumb ass, puched in the arm or a combination of both.
anyone have any similure insedences ?
