At the end of the 2nd semester every year at my school, they have a "senior picnic" in which the senior class spends most of the day outside, screwing around. Every year, seniors bring water guns and balloons, because:
1. Just because
2. Underclassmen can pay to do sidewalk art the same day, and we know what that means
Anyways, I’ve been looking into homemade water guns for greater power than shitty store bought ones, and mentioned it to my friend Peter today during Sociology. I got home, got on the internet, and started looking at more homemade designs. Then one caught my eye. Particularly, the main piece of it.
Quote: The fire extinguisher must be the older kind that is filled with liquid and pressurized with air though a valve on the top.
Now, you may be saying to yourself "Why did that catch your eye? It’s not like you have old fire extinguishers lying around your house." While this is true, I do know where to find them.
The senior picnic isn’t for about 2 months, but if we can get this working, it will be most epic.

That would make a good egg just getting the water gun to work. Can’t wait to see video of the freshman getting soaked though.

I plan to take pics throughout the entire project, from the obtaining of the extinguishers through the modifications, to the test fires, and ultimately, the use of them.

Well, I plan to diverge from the original design a bit, but it will be extremely similar to the original. The difference I am planning is replacing the water helmet they made on this page with a simple gun on the end of the hose. I might make it into an egg, I haven’t decided if it’s original enough yet. If I do, I’ll still give credit to the original source.

Old abandoned textile mill Peter and I explored over the summer, there’s several there. I’m not sure if they’re the right kind yet, they have to have a schrader valve so that we can use a bicycle pump to repressurize them, but if they aren’t, I have a few other plans on how to obtain one or two working ones.

Thats pretty cool. I think my dad has one, but I doubt he’d let me have it to turn it into a water gun.

I would think one of the hand pump pesticide canisters from Home Depot would also be effective and much easier to find.

Yes, but can a hand pump cannister shoot water out at 100-300 (estimated) PSI? I don’t think so. Not to mention, I don’t want a hand pump gun, that’s just like those lame non-CPS Super Soakers.

I used to have these 2 water pistols, you push the nozzle into this dock to fill it up from the hose, and it had a warning on the back claiming it was unsafe to fire at someones face.
They were AWESOME(r)

Would it be possible to get a FULL fire extinguisher, THEN mod it so that the first blast is a full strength blast? just a thought.
