I really don’t understand the question. You can burn the .avi file to the DVD if you want.
However, if you want DVD like quality then yes, use .VOB, .DivX, .VCD, and those high quality formats.
However, if you have a low quality .avi file to begin with, then don’t expect anything better.

You need proper dvd burning software if you want it to play in a normal dvd player, but if you have a very new up market player (and if it says off the box) then you will be able to play the raw AVI file off the disk, but only in good players. It just depends on how compatible the player is.

OH.... Okay, he was asking how to burn it.
Well, get a good program like Nero or Alcohol 120%. Then just get a blank DVD and burn it.
However, not all DVD players play .avi or .VOB.
Standard format is MPEG-2. So, maybe convert into that if you want.

Burning DVDs properly is hard. If you have a 360, just burn the file unconverted onto a DVD. The 360 can decode mp4, xvid, and other formats off the disk

No, it’s not.
Programs now-a-days are made idiot proof for these kinds of things. All you need is a little common knowledge.

However, if you want to be safe (Maybe your DVD has restrictions or other things) then try VSOconvert (Converts your file DIRECTLY into DVD format, not the lossy MPEG-2, which means all DVDs play the file converted by VSO)

Oh and this is not Warez. It’s Freeware, so fuck off mods.

I use Nero Burning ROM (not that smart-start bullshit) and a LaCie external DVD burner and all goes well.

This is a good tutorial for nubs if you follow it word for word. The pictures are a little bit old, so they look different than the newer Nero verions, but it the same concept.

If the files aren’t in DVD format, use a program to convert them. ConverXtoDVD is ok, but I think nothing is better than WinAVI converter. You can find it on any torrent site.
