Careful. My friend got some RAM and put it in his comp......It blew up...basically.

Make sure your computer is DDR RAM first. It is most likely DDR2 RAM if your computer is less then a year old.

Youre either lying or hes lying.

I bought a stick of PC3100 (or something like that), and put it in my computer, which at the time, I didnt know took PC170-something (I think; I was a computer newblet at the time).

All the computer did was make (a) BIOS beep(s) notifying me that it was the wrong type of RAM.

Nothing more, nothing less.

yes, pop it in.
worse comes to worse, it won’t let you boot.
if that happens you know what the problem is, so just take the ram out and everything will be back to normal.

Bungle. It fucked his computer up. I think he said it fried it. Trust me. Also the guy that said to me about it said it was completly fried. And my friend owns a computer shop which deals with repairs and building so he knows what he is on about.

All i know is that his computer was fucked after.

Just compare it to the original RAM that is in there. Take your RAM out. Look at the chips on top of the card. If there the same and the notches on the side are the same your safe. If not then dont.

The chip probably had a short in it. His will probably be fine. (Disclaimer: I have made a mistake or two in the past. If your computer fucks up, don’t blame me)
