So i was surfing around my local area and happened upon my old band, who are completely deadlocked as far as getting shows goes because the subject of this topic is kind of a butthole.
So it starts off, as far as i know, that the guitar player wants to put a chant (hardcore idea) in a "death" metal song.
The drummer and his girlfriend disagree, because both of them are into therealdeath metal. They said that it wasnt a "heavy" (brutal lol) enough idea. So this is what the guitar player says.
Tbts was a local deathcore band from around here that made it pretty far until they realised that hardcore punk was the new trend, broke up and made a new band called Swallow Your Pride, which in turn, failed because everyone saw what trend hopping megalomaniacs they are. In one of tbts’ songs, they DID use a chant at the beginning of it. Look up "Necrosadistic Butcher" on their myspace.
They get into a little arguement, and the guitar player calls the drummer out and says he is a closed minded fool (pretty much) and doesnt listen to anything but metal, when i distinctly recall all three of us back in the day jamming to Modest Mouse, and the drummer knew every word to every song. He thinks For Today are one of the most technical bands out, but i disagree.
Guess who had their way?
Now, heres the funny part. Bro JUST said he’d like to be original, and in the same swing, took a shot at me because days before, he made a point to show that we "ripped" a riff from another band called Oceano. I agree, that the two sound the same, but we even spoke with the band itself, and they dont think that the two riffs are similar enough for ours to be considered ripped. So what if the timing and rhythm are the same. We changed the notes.
So in order to be original, you have to do things that nobody has done before. Ill name three bands right now that have chants.
To Burn The Skies - Necrosadistic Butcher
The Scarborough Affair - The Ocean Walks Forever
With Blood Comes Cleansing - Hematidrosis
I will also point out that this guy (in my opinion) isnt very original as far as his guitar playing goes.

Gut The Opposition - First riff of the song is a clone of Annotations of an Autopsy - Gore Gore Gadget
The first breakdown is a ripoff of Suicide Silence - No Pity For A Coward. The only difference is, he doesnt do double notes, just straight chuggs, but the rhythm is the same.
Their other song, Blessed Be Thy Buried, he takes a section from To Burn The Skies - Dismemberment of the Vitals(siiiick). The breakdown is stolen from a local band called Inner City Royals
- Royalty.
And over all this nonsense, the guitar player has threatened to leave the band, and destroying whatever chance of playing a pre-fest for Gigantour, with such acts as Children of Bodom, In Flames, Job For A Cowboy(suck me eric) High On Fire and even Megadeth.

I don’t like people in real life. I prefure online. I took a class in summer for ceramics. The teacher, treated everyone like we were 5. there was a egotistical attraction whore who would never shut the fuck up. Then there was a stuttering girl who annoyed the fuck out of me, Then there was the mute. I liked him he was cool. I don’t care if no one likes me, no one really knows anything about me. I still dont know who im going to vote for as president . anyway Im a fan of techno music and DJ mixes, so thay don’t have bands, Daft Punk does but there French, I like French people.

B- Theres electronica bands out there. Yes, Daft Punk is one, but what about Infected Mushroom? Theyre a duo just like Daft Punk.

My old band broke up after i left the country.
Also our guitarist and bassist were in a major struggle for power, it was like WWIII

They started adding "core" to the end of genres because thats what it was mixed with... metalcore, which came from hardcore. Chant core is just something the drummer used to give him a good sense of "i really dont want to do this".
