I know that memory issues come with age but my parents are seriously driving me crazy.
Last summer I spent $250 on irrigation equipment because my parents have been wanting something to water the plants for a while. I set it all up and instructed them on what to do so I didn’t have to manage it myself and for a while It was fine.
Then came the fall and at this time I had to tell them about draining the lines and how after the lines are drained, you don’t want to use the line for the rest of the fall and winter.
Well less than a week later my mom fills the lines and then leaves the tap on and the hoses full of water for a night. This wrecked a hose and made me have to carefully unfreeze another hose without breaking it.
For the rest of the winter we were fine until just the other day when my mom decided to go against my word again and open the main sprinkler line which had a tap close to the garden.
Again, she left the tap on and the hoses filled with water and when we got snow the other day everything was left to freeze for two nights.
Then this morning I was called by my father to switch off the sprinklers (which I thought were off) and when I went to see why the sprinklers were on I found complete devastation.
The main line had frozen and both the water cutoff at the tap in the garden as well as the tap on the house had been ruined by the ice so they could not be turned off. Two sprinkler valves were frozen open and another length of hose was wrecked.
I asked my mom what had happened and she was like "meh" and just said for me to fix it even though she will promptly do it again.
I finally had my chance.
I told her "fuck you" and said that if she wants the lines fixed, she will have to pay the $100 I would need to replace what she ruined.
I have heard of friends not respecting your stuff but if your parents don’t give a damn, I think it’s time to panic.

Yeah. Your parents need to get some training in doing things right. No offense, but... like you said, if you have mates who can’t do things right, then things are fucked if you tell your parents over and over again. But that’s just like my mum. I’m not talking to her atm, (thank god I don’t live with the bitch).
Hopefully they get their heads around it though man.
