I’m going to New York tommorrow with my class. Well were allowed to bring laptops,but I just called the hotel and they have a bogus charge of $9.95 for 24 hours. What i’m getting at is are there any ways around there blockers? I know when im at the airport I can get to comcast.net because its in my tool bar ,but it has many restrictions and redirects me everytime to the page that you pay for the internetz.

Theres most likely to be wifi everywhere in new york, just use someone elses.

Wow they charge for internet at hotels. Every hotel I’ve been to which is a lot have had free internet access, wireless and cable.

Yea lots of hotels charge for WIFI its a bitch and there really is no way around it.

If you have a cellphone, I suggest you talk to your provider about a dataplan that comes with it.
Its only like $10 a month (or at least it is for my carrier), and on my carrier, its unlimited data transfer. Once you get that, you can use your phone as a modem to connect to the internet. Shploits told me about that since we both have the same phone and carrier, but I dont have an unlimited dataplan.
If only, just use the plan for that one month, pay the $10 for unlimited data access which blows the hotel’s offer out of the water, then cancel it before your next bill.

yeah when i went to chicago, my hotel carged for wifi.
the one across the street was free though :)

Some of those "free" wireless sites aren’t really free. They sniff your network traffic and pick up your passwords and credit card numbers. If your computer isn’t secure, they can also get into your C$ shares. Therefore, clean off all sacred data from your pc (keep it on a data key), run firewalls and antivirus, don’t use your credit card and change your passwords when you get home (hope they haven’t already been changed).

Yeah my phone can be used as a modem ,but the principal banned cell phones on the trip becase of "hurtfull text-messegingg"

So what? Its not like hes gonna check all your shit to make sure theres a phone in your possession. All you have to do is just hide it (and the charger) someplace safe where they wont find it (if they do search shit for phones), then just keep it under something and close to your laptop when using it as a modem.

He cant stop you taking a cell phone, it could be for emergency purposes.
Apart from this, WEP is so easily cracked, it is WPA which can be the bastard, and its getting more commonly used for the likes of this.
