Hey Guys,
I have a buddy which I have known for years now. However, he recently started drinking (heavily) to the point where we would get called since he’s passed out on some guys lawn or trying to drive pissed out of his mind.
I tried talking to him about it but all it does is make him mad and not want to talk to me.
What should I do? I don’t wanna lose one of my mates to this.
Any advice appreciated. Any flames ignored.

Sorry to hear dude, my mom suffered from alcoholism through out most of my childhood.
Sooner or later he will realize how much alcohol is fucking him up but before that there isn’t really much you can do if he is being that stubborn. Pretty much the only thing that will help is to wait it out and keep trying to tell him how much this is fucking up his life and the ones around him...

My friend is an alcoholic. He gets drunk everyday at school. His parents took him to see a psychiatrist, and now he drinks more than ever. So I say just wait it out

I don’t think you can just "wait it out".
Don’t try to get him into weed either , he might start smoking that everyday , then he might start doing harder drugs.
NO I am NOT saying weed is a pathway to harder drugs.
My mom is currently an alcoholic , she drinks Bacardi every day. But It isn’t that bad she doesn’t start in the morning , She starts around now actually (4:00 here) Shit last weekend we had a party here and she was so fucked up she made one of my sisters friends and my sister cry , and she didn’t remember shit. I’m thinkin this is the early stage of alcoholism , Because she can’t even get along without it.

Also , I smoke weed , and it is not a pathway to harder drugs , but some people get bored with it or don’t like it because its a downer , and therefore go for other drugs.

I had a very good friend that is now dead from this very thing. Because no one wanted to make him mad, so everyone let it happen rather than intervene.
It never seems too serious until the day after he’s dead.
Don’t wait too long to do something! You will regret it.

Yeah, Thanks guys, I called his girlfriend and we both are going to sit him down and have a talk.
He got fired from his work last week and his parents wont let him back in their house. So, I hope to god he picks his ass up and shapes up.

Yea... I don’t agree when everyone says "wait it out"
Because you never know if he will come to realize how harming this is to him
or... you never know if something will happen while he’s still an alcoholic.
As weird as it sounds, faith actually helps. One of my buddies was an alcoholic but now, because he’s become a catholic, it’s really helped him alot.
