Hello everybody, today I’ll introduce you to Linux.
Your system specs:
AMD Dual-Core 64-bit 2.8 Ghz
2GB RAM
Two 500GB SATA Harddrives, 7200 RPM
Two 52xblahxblah DVD-RAM drives with Lightscribe
____
Enter Linux:
You now have:
8088/ 4Mhz
10MB Hardcard
64 KB RAM
One 8" Floppy, Single Sided, Single Density
Why do people insist that Linux is better? Because you have to invest in 25 fucking headaches to get something to work that just works in Windows, so they think that they’re actually earning rights to brag about it. On the other hand, Windows users pay the $15 for a wireless network card, and it just works.
Or how about Display drivers in Linux, well if you have a dual-display 512MB 8X AGP 3D accelerator card, and you install Linux, well now you get a total of THREE display options:
Monochrome (B&W, Black and Green)
CGA
EGA (expensive cards required)
OR, why don’t we move onto motherboards?
Well, considering the rare support, you can have a top-of-the-line motherboard that actually destroys the IDE controller, and drives attached.
Just my story on Linux.

I don’t use a Linux desktop but I do use command line Unix (FreeBSD) and I can say it runs a web server like a dream. I can easily make configuration changes by typing two words and I can automate tasks easily with shell 5cripts. It’s far more secure out of the box than any windows system and if someone did manage to get into it, they better know Unix commands or they won’t get very far. I tried some Linux GUI desktop systems and I wasn’t impressed.

yes linux can be irratating. Such as to install a piece of software on windows you download and double click it. Job done it installs and you can select directorys and such.
Linux on the other hand. Download spend fucking ages trying to work it out then go into terminal type in some code bullshit. There is a fuck load of stuff you have to do on Linux to install a program and it just isnt worth it.

If you know how to properly install linux and you know how to google things like Envy (the program that loads and installs up to date ATI and Nvidia drivers on Linux so you can run things like Steam) or WINE (the program that allows virtually any windows program work on Linux), Linux is wonderful. It’s also incredibly light on resources. Go get a copy of Ubuntu. If you seriously don’t know how to install Ubuntu from the live cd then you are hopeless.

Whoops, forgot the link.
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu
Some programs that work natively on Ubuntu:
-Limewire
-Google earth
-Firefox
-Flash
-Hamachi-Blender
-VLC
-Skype
-GIMP
Right now I’m using WINE so that I can also run Steam and Photoshop CS3 on Linux and it’s doing a VERY good job.
Also, since you were bitching about graphics, open a console and read this

I have ubuntu and kubuntu
It’s still garbage.
But, then again, you’re the one who likes the outdated, useless technology for everything. I just keep it for tables for my faster computers.

HALP! I DONT NO SYNTAX!
Seriously, if you can learn forum BBcode, you can learn apt-get. Or, you could just use the Synaptic GUI for software installation.

Hippies would have nothing to do with Linux. They’re too busy smoking pot and running naked in the woods searching for "happy" shrooms.

hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnotreallyrrrrrrrrrr
I got great wireless compatibility in Linux Mint, and FC9 (coming out in one day (or two, I forget)) is getting some good wireless compatibility on it.
As for driver support, ive had flawless support for all my hardware since I started using linux.
tl;dr: Its cause you dont know how to use Linux properly. Hell even a cokehead/heroin-user like OPIV can use it. durhurhur youre worse than a cokehead/heroin-user.
