What is the point of torrents? I mean its when you download movies or or songs ect. but why would you rather downloaded it then just watch it or listen to it on a streaming site? Im in no way putting torrents down i just want to know what the advantge is of using torrents rather then streaming sites.

Because you then can put the file anywhere (computer, external hd), and you can play it back anytime you want.
And if your internet is like mine it goes out every so often so I can watch stuff offline.

torrents are not all about music and videos, I get riped/cracked software from torrents sites.

Not really, plus I scan all my stuff.
Limewire has a shit load of that crap so when I’m not "borrowing" a whole album I just go on youtube and listen to it there.

Yeah software too, but mostly shows and stuff.
I don’t have cable in my room anymore so I d/l all the WWII historic shit.

So I can put songs videos and other stuff on my Ipod and also you can get programs from torrents, I love torrents

Torrents are what i use to get whole albums and never have gotten a virus, for single songs i use limewire. All ofcourse to get the songs onto my ipod

Pirate bay has been hit by like 50 lawsuit’s but there still up they have almost everything there. They have there website servers somewhere is sweeden so the government cant shut down the server. You just need to check almost every software you download because there are virus. Some user are very well known so you don’t need to virus check.

To actually give the guy an answer, torrents are faster (when they’re well-seeded), and aren’t hit by takedown orders nearly as much.

those are two good search sites that combine all the big torrent sites in one easy search
the good thing about torrents is that you can share pretty much anything without having to having to have a fast download server. the idea is that everyone shares what they have with other people who are trying to download the same thing, so you have this big web of sharing.
if you are worried about viruses or bad quality downloads, make sure you look for ’Scene’ downloads. these usually have a name next to them and .nfo files with all their details included in the download. (some big scene names are Vomit, Nope, Pukka, PreVail.. etc) A scene group has to live up to certain quality standards when releasing anything. for movies and sounds they are always good quality and programs usually come with detailed cracking instructions.
