UM, I deleted a driver, which started a snowball effect leading to all my sound drivers, software drivers for my phone, and the drivers that make my moniter work go bye bye...seeing as i dont know computers all that well, i went to system restore and restored the system, not realizing i could just roll back my drivers...so now that my computer is restored, i lost ALL my music...It diddnt kill everything...Firefox and several other programs i have dont come with XP...Why did it delete some files, but not others? and is there any way i can restore it back to the way it was before i wiped it?

well if you just used windows restore you probably didn’t loose all your stuff.
if you used windows restore it just goes retarted and fcuks up a lot of different things. try going to my computer and looking around on the c drive for your stuff. most of your programs should be in the "c:\\program files" folder. your music is prolly still there too, that is if you used the system restore in windows.
if you used a factory system restore, like something you did before windows even loaded (ex: ’Press F3 for System Restore"), your stuff is prolly gone, hopefully you did the 1st one.

I’m going to assume these files were on your desktop? Or in folders in your desktop? Run a search for one of the files using explorer’s built-in search.

Branch* Some of the files (I stand corrected) werent deleted. For example, Rhapsody and Itunes werent deleted, but just uninstalled.

Well try the search, I don’t know much about SR, but it sounds like it may have messed with folder names. Look into undelete utilities (like Undelete), and give them a try.

Ill try the search and see what it comes up with. The only good thing (so far) is my computer is running alot faster now that its got alot more free memory.
