My problem is that my 1st Ipod’s headphone jack went bad, it’s a 60gb Ipod video, is there anyway I can fix this without having to delete the music? Also, It has 2 dents in it, will this affect anything?

I’ve never owned an iPod but isn’t the warranty void if you open the case yourself? Best bet is to send it in for repairs, but back up your music.
As for the scratches, I’m sure my friend said something about being able to send it off somewhere for cleaning, but again I’m not sure never having owned one.

You could get oil and rub the back of it with a cloth

Use copper polish to get the scratches out.

In order to get the scratches out you could most likely use one of those kits that repair scratched disk. As long as they aren’t deep than that should get them right out.

Search the directory for eggs on removing the scratches. I know there’s some stuff you can order/buy that helps get rid of scratches and shit.
I don’t understand your first problem. How would you fix it by deleting the music? The jack has nothing to do with the data on your Ipod.

Scratches:
There are many different polishes for metal, or you could try buffing them out.
The dents on the back:
Depending on how deep they are, they may be putting pressure on the hard drive,
My Toshiba Gigabeat s30 had a dent on the back, and the hard drive failed, though I’m not sure the two are related.

To Atl, Some azn said that the only way for it to be done is to delete everything, I didn’t believe it. And I also checked the directory, All I got was some PSP tips.
DCO: The Harddrive is working, I was just curious of other problems that may occur is all.

iPods fail. The screen broke in my Nano (thanks to some fuckhead who broke it), and the whole thing didnt work when I connected it to the PC. In fact WHEN i connected it, it made high pitch buzzing noises.
I thought fuck it. And pulled it apart. It’s not all that much inside though.

Polishing the back won’t do too much unless you’re planning on buffing off some metal.
If the warranty is over, take it apart and look for damaged boards, etc. Radio shack probably sells replacement headphone jacks you could use, or look online for repair parts.
There’s no need to delete the music off of it, it’s stored on a hard drive inside the player and shouldn’t affect anything.
Also...
What’s this shit?

Thanks RE, and Those are dent I randomly found, which is odd, as I put it away, and they weren’t there when I put it away.
