Supermodel Ruslana Korshunova, 20, fell to her death from her Manhattan apartment building Saturday, June 28, 2008 in an apparent suicide, published reports said. Police said the fall is under investigation.

I love how when someone who has it all (figuratively speaking) kills themselves, ther eis always a shitstorm in the media,
yet when some kid who has lost everything, and ends it, NOTHING is said.
last year, an old friend of mine from junior high jumped infront of a train, and three weeks later when his good friends painted a mural stating "RIP Gyles" on a wall next to the tracks, they were arrested and forced to remove it by hand.,

It’s more likely that their popularity/familiarity makes the news more interesting to many, not the fact that they are "better" than anyone else.
The person who is unknown to the world isn’t less important, but people wouldn’t feel as much empathy for someone they’ve never seen before.
Their being a celebrity gives the impression of familiarity to people, they feel that they know them a bit more than a stranger even though they really don’t.
