Overkill. (obligatory)
4gb RAM is awesome, HDD is awesome, youre gonna get flak from some of the stupider members about your graphics card cause "itz not a 9800 dood so it kant run any good gaymen", and all those extra ports are shit yeah awesomeness.
You got a good system, for the most part (quad core, lol). How much did you pay for it?

You should swap that 500 gig for 2x250’s. That’s what I do, and I keep my downloads on one hard drive, and my games/system/applications on the other. It speeds things up a ton if you’re a gamer. Also, you may want to invest in a GeForce 7900. That’s what I have and see absolutely no reason to upgrade to an 8 series. I can play Assassin’s Creed on high settings and get a pretty good FPS, but on Medium it’s smooth as anything. The 7900 is pretty cheap now too, I think.

**or you could just keep that 500 and get another 250 or whatever you want.

$199 is the cheapest youre gonna get, I think.
Try Walmart or something like that if you want cheaper.
Movie playback wont be negatively affected unless youre a robot.

That is a nice machine for $579.
Quad core is really just a novelty now. Quad cores are pretty much useless. If you dont do much gaming your gfx card will be adequate, and it will be adequate for most games anyway.
Definitely get a 22" if you want bang for your buck.

Na, that’ll be fine for a non-gaming box. You should check out Ebay for a monitor (if you’re not already). Just make sure you look at some reviews before you buy. You’d be surprised how shitty some monitors can be.

Don’t be afraid to get a CRT, I’m running two CRT’s, one of them extremely old (came with a 566 MHz Optiplex), and my only complaint is that one of them is too small.

Im the proud owner of two CRT monitors and one LCD (came with the laptop, you know?), and I can honestly say I see no difference between the two, except for:
-Size
-The fact that one is attached to my laptop while the other two arent

Theres a huge difference.
Theres no such thing as a flat screen CRT yet, IIRC.
