I actually wanted to buy a track ball for the longest time, but when I tried one out, it was just too weird for me. It didn’t seem like something I could really get used to.

trackballs are really cool, and i can use them fluently, but not quite as fluently as i use a mouse...
my mouse is nothing special... came in a combo with a keyboard(which i like very much, since most of the extra buttons work on linux)... the only special thing my mouse has is back and forward buttons, and a scrollwheel, obviously...
i couldn’t live without my scrollwheel

Well I couldn’t find a picture of it on the interwebs, so I went ahead and took a picture of it.
There’s my baby. Haha it was the one that came with my old computer back in 2006, and it hasn’t failed me since, [knocks on wood table]. Take notice of the worn away plastic on the left mouse button, its right where my finger rests.
Also, Valo, I think my friend has the same mouse as you. I liked using his, the scroll wheel was really smooth.

That’s my favorite thing about it.
You can also move the scroll wheel to the right/left to scroll sideways.

I have the same mouse as Valo, but mine has a worn out part on the top because when I get bored I spin it around.

My friend has one of those Logitech gaming mice (I think its the G5 that simpson posted), and when I went to his house on separate occasions, wed always play FPS’ (and one RTS, command & conquer tiberium wars) and shit.
I can honestly say I saw no difference in my performance when I was using that gaming mouse than when I game at home with my standard Dell mouse. Only difference was I could change the mouse sensitivity on the spot with the gaming mouse. But im used to doing everything at medium sensitivity anyways.

I modified my mouse...
It was a standard Labtec wireless optical mouse that came with my wireless keyboard.
I modified the buttons and the scroll wheel to be silent (no click-click {buttons}, {b-d-d-d-drrt-b-d-d-d-drrt {scroll}...) so I don’t annoy the woman as much.
