So I got accepted for an apprenticeship as the above career. Sunday I’ll be headed out to Tennessee to start it, it’s not exactly what I’ve dreamed of doing my whole life but the money’s too good to say no to, especially when I’m barely 18, and more than likely wouldn’t have been offered this had I not known someone high up...that’s about it. But don’t worry I’ll still lurk around harassing everyone on RE from time to time.

Same Career choice as me :D, good to hear someone knows all the stuff I do. Good luck, hope you get lots of money.
I took classes to become a certified Journey man electrician, and electrician’s helper, and got all the OSHA certifications. But starting next summer I’m going to start working at a Co-Gen plant. And use my electrical background to help me out in that field.

It really isn’t my choice of career, the opportunity just came up and I took it but I’m just starting out as a helper, not with helper wages though.
18$/hour + per diem
Anyways, yeah I have to study and pass a bunch of tests too keep the job and within 6 months I will/should be certified.

Ic, $18 an hour ain’t bad for a helper. Residential electricians get anywhere from $30-$80 an hour depending on the job.
In the Co-Gen I’ll be making around $20 and hr and in a year or to about $35/hr

Yeah one thing I do love about this field has to be the money and the job availability. $100,000+/year, as many hours as you could want, and there are so many jobs out there for electricians as long as you’re willing to move.
Also, I hear that there are a lot of idiots out there calling themselves "Journeymen" so if you actually know what you’re doing and have good work ethic you can move up quick (so I hear).

I go to power plants from time to time, and the plant personnel have it pretty good. They don’t scurry up and down utility poles, and somebody with less training gets to sweep up coal dust and uncloog chutes. It’s nice work if you can get it.

Yeah, in the one power plant I’ve been around there’s a couple guys who don’t know anything about the plant but get like $20+/hr for pretty much being their errand boy, like you said H-Dogg, Sweeping, Unclogging shoots, making calls on the radio, unclogging/defrosting things. All that kind of stuff.

There’s the tools I use :D
I have a different pouch as of right now though, and I bought a few extra different brand tools.
You use anything in particular?
