So I was listening to internet radio and the guys were talking about scamming or stealing video games. ( it was a viewer que thing) The guy said he would order someting from amazon, tell them he had never recieved the item, and they would send him the same item free of charge. I was thinking about ordering a few skateboard decks and some other items in a large bulk order so I only have to do this once and not draw suspiscion. I would call them up a few weeks later to report that i had "not" recieved the shipment. I was just wonderng if there was a flaw in my plan or if amazon has changed their policy or something. I figured now would be a good time to do this because of the nearing holiday season.

They probably have order tracking on larger packages. Also, this is not a good idea at all.

Wont work. Whoever was saying that was full of shit. On packages, it is scanned when it is delivered. What happens after that is your problem, and is not their concern. They shipped it to you, thats what you payed them for, not to guard your doorstep.

TL;DR:

Worst scam idea ever.

Quote The man, the myth, the legend, Sl/i/m himself:
BTW tell the dude in that scamazon thread that there’s a reason tracking numbers are used. What he should do is the classic paypal chargeback scam.

Order an item off eBay through paypal and pay for it, when he gets it take it out the packaging and keep it but fill it up with something such as bricks or compost to the similar weight, take a pic of it and then do a chargeback and dispute then show paypal the pics as "proof". He’ll get to keep the goods and have his money back.

Paypal always sides with the buyer now and is only good for phishing full info out of them to use them effectively for other avenues of ID fraud/theft, and of course chargeback scams.

Well, it wasn’t even my idea in the first place. It came from the radio. I was just gonna see if this was even possible anymore (and if it was, then i would do it). But this radio guy had done this by accident many a moon ago. So I figured theyd have some system to make sure this wouldn’t happen. Kthnxby.
